Past week and my new part time job @ Gardens by the Bay

Well, it has been long since i last posted around a week? Not sure if that is long to anyone but it is to me. I've been really busy as i just started my new job at Gardens by the Bay aka GBB as a temp retail staff.

Night scene when i was on my way home after work
On Thursday when i first had my B shift - Super Trees
View from Dragonfly bridge yesterday - Sorry slightly blur as i was brisk walking while taking it!
As this is my first retail job (previously all my jobs were related to FnB), i was worried i wouldn't do a good job or i might die or something, i almost could not sleep last last Sunday. However, all was unexpected and it was quite fun as it was not as tough as the FnB industry and also, there were lots of aunties who were hell of a funny and they are very nice.

Very nice Horlicks Ball icecream by Udders - sold in Gardens by the Bay

I first gotten this job as the advert wrote BUGGY DRIVER but, because they only need a few drivers and there were two other guys who interviewed the same job as me, they got chose for buggy while i suey suey kenna retail (It is a fun experience though). Luckily, the supervisor said that i might have a chance to help the buggy so all is fine! What matters most is i get my pay and then i will use it to travel and write more blog!

Back-tracked to 17th of May

I went to Gu Ma Jia at around Macpherson/Potong Pasir to have dinner with my Dad, sis and Grandma for a belated Mother's Day because, as Singaporeans we are very kiasi (scared die) so we want to save more money and we heard that usually during Mother's Day, such restaurants have awesome promotions such that there will be a lot of richer people going there to eat. So, we went on 17th instead. (We love this place by the way even though it is quite expensive for us).

Broccoli with scallop
Ha Chong Gai aka Prawn Paste Chicken (One of my Favs)
Chilli Crab! - Avesomeness overflowing but i prefer salted egg crab
See how frigging big the claw is! - The crab weighs 1.75kg (So frigging fat)
Thick, Juicy and Filled with delicious Crab Meat! Omnomnom
We had a Marmite Pork Ribs as well but once it reached the table, my dad chiong(rush) eat the thing so the result was not very nice to take pictures with. Why i mentioned i preferred Salted Egg Crab but still we order Chilli Crab is because my Grandma loves Chilli Crab and also its Mother's Day mah, i also never give birth to any one so cannot decide on the food. Only Mothers can (only specially on this day)! But asshole px still ordered the food she want (the frigging ex broccoli) and my dad (marmite pork ribs)!

I shall kindly forgive them because i was not the one who paid, my dad did. If i was the one who pay, i will bring them to a place where it is cheaper and the food is just as nice. You might think i sound very cheapo/auntie/stingy/anything you want to say but, i am still only 20, with a wide future, i should save while i can so in the future i would not suffer (My mother teach one).

For anyone who wants to visit Gu Ma Jia, address is below. Their food is good, please try if you got money. Those with no money maybe next time i try find a cheaper version with good food and reco to you guys.

Gathering with the Ladies @ Nex

Met up with the whole clique for a short dinner at Nex on the 14th (Like finally)! The Ladies consisting of the Ah Lian, Ah Ma, Good Girl, Smart Girl and Slacker(Me) were from Sengkang Sec aka SKSS '10. We do not meet often and even if we do, one or two will be missing due to work or personal reasons so the last time we actually met in whole was like last year!

The Cast
  • Ah Lian is our very famous girl from SK. If you say her name, probably the teachers who taught in the school during our period will know her (She is that famous!).
  • Ah Ma is our very nice student counselor (They dun actually counsel anyone) aka Prefect. She is call Ah Ma(Grandma) because she looks slightly older which she herself admit so she sometimes call us Sun Nu(Granddaughter)
  • Good Girl is good girl who turn not very good recently. Used to be quiet and soft spoken in sch but maybe the poly and uni air affected her so she very tokgong recently can shoot people liao.
  • Smart Girl is forever smart and the busiest. Very hard to meet up with her as she is a teacher, also has her church stuff so we always try our best to ask her to meet up by not clashing with her schedule
  • And of course me as a Slacker simply because i used to hate studying and doing homework.

Wefie with Ah Ma. OH MY TEETH LOOK SO WHITE (No filter by the way)
We had Fish & Co for dinner!
My FOOD! - Chicken, Swordfish Collar, Mash Potato and Rice!
This section is like a very boring section because i'm just trying to fill the post! But still, i had a great gathering with them and i missed them already. Wonder when am i going to meet them again as i just started work and am really busy.

But anyways, bye for now. Maybe when i'm free, i will update the very long ago travel posts!

Indonesia Bali Trip 4D4N 2015, Day 5 - Tattoo, Dinner and Home

Been a few days since i posted due to busy schedules. Continuing on with my trip to Bali for last April.

Day 1 - A new start and to start, my most recent travel: Indonesia Bali Trip 2015 4D4N - Day 1
Day 2 - Indonesia Bali Trip 2015 4D4N - Day 2 Sanur Tour
Day 3 - Indonesia Bali Trip 2015 4D4N - Day 3 Ubud and Kuta Beach
Day 4 - Indonesia Bali Trip 4D4N 2015, Day 4 - Cafe Hopping

Tattoo at Altar Altar Altar

Early in the afternoon, we checked out of our villa bidding goodbye to Odin, Freya and the maid. We went on to the car and left for Double Six Beach at Kuta/Seminyak. Lynette had made an appointment with the tattoo Artist going by his instagram name @altaraltaraltar.

From what the artist mentioned, the tattoo is going to take around 3-5 hours with rest time in between, so i almost died while waiting for Lynette to finish her tattoo. But what's more, i felt really bad letting our driver wait for us for so long.

So, Altar Altar Altar is a dot work tattoo artist and his works are quite pretty. Do not worry, his needles are safe and all new. He showed it to us with the sealed packaging and he sterilized everything after he open the packaging too so do not worry about contacting HIV, AIDS and all the other contagious illnesses you can think of.

After 3-4 hours...

The tattoo final finished! End product as seen above. We went on straight to have our dinner at a nearby cafe - On Sacred's Ground

Young Coconut - It was massively huge
Barramundi Rissoto - Not awesome but it was good

The dinner lasted around an hour as we decided to slack a bit before asking our driver to directly send us to the airport.

To the airport, off we go!

We encountered a jam on the way to the airport, so we just nua and listen to music. While reaching the airport, we thanked our driver and of course we tipped him since he was so awesome, we went on to check our boarding gate etc. To what we know, we encounted a delay again and it was a huge delay around 3 hours. We were suppose to fly at 9 plus but our delay caused us to fly at 11 plus. So while waiting, we checked in and walked around the departure hall. And thanks to my awesome metabolism, i felt hungry again

Chicken Panini with Cafe Latte
After waiting for a couple hours more and lots of walking, we finally board the plane, ready to fly. And after two hours(?), we arrived in Singapore!

HOME SWEET HOME!

Sorry for rushing this post but really, the last day was the most tiring day i ever had for going overseas.

Mother's Day Dinner at Nihon Mura Express

Tomorrow 10th May is a day where we celebrate for all Mothers in the world. So, for my mum, we brought here to Nihon Mura Express outlet in Rivervale Mall.

Look at the queue! Everyone seems to be celebrating today
My beautiful old auntie
Wonder who is she texting...
Being a typical Singaporean, you have to take photo of places with a lot of people crowding!
Feeling tired from queuing up, she decided to sit down and play game. (Look at that weird little boy)
Once they sat down, the phones are all out. Ask them take photo also will die
Not much variety shown but there are like over 100 items as shown on banner outside. You can order through the IPad too.
Small portion of what we have eaten, The prawn is frigging amazing
Never to miss, the Chawanmushi! It might look plain but it's filled with goodness.
Look at her blissful face after eating that plate of sushi
Omnomnom Matcha Mochi time!
Cutting cake like a boss while playing her Soda Crush Saga
Ever seen someone who eat cheesecake using chopsticks? That's me
Amount of plates we eaten. I know like very little, but for girls very not bad le hor.
Even ending also must take photo mah. Pardon the disgusting mess they made.
After the fabulous dinner and satisfying our craving for sushi (was using Mother Day as an excuse), we pat our stomach and say goodbye to the amazing Nihon Mura.

Indonesia Bali Trip 4D4N 2015, Day 4 - Cafe Hopping

If you have not read any of the previous days, links are below:

Day 1 - A new start and to start, my most recent travel: Indonesia Bali Trip 2015 4D4N - Day 1
Day 2 - Indonesia Bali Trip 2015 4D4N - Day 2 Sanur Tour
Day 3 - Indonesia Bali Trip 2015 4D4N - Day 3 Ubud and Kuta Beach

Day 4 - Cafe Hopping; Old Man's Canggu, Bungalow Living Cafe, Sea Circus

First stop of the day, we went to Old Man at Canggu, it is right beside Echo Beach so if your driver do not know where it is, just let him know the street name and then let him know that it is right at the end. We can see surfers and waves from where we are sitting. The food is pretty nice too, do visit if you have the chance

Our view from the seats in Old Man's Canggu
Food: Buffalo Wings, and Quesadilla with Avacado and Salsa. Drinks: Beetroot and Ginger Juice and Spinach Juice

After a short rest, we went to find our driver, to realise he wasn't by the car. We called and he said that is walking back already so we sat there and wait. Bali locals are usually very nice except when they are selling or promoting their stuffs. This local saw us sitting there and start talking to us and asked whether we would like to try their local coffee. Of course we rejected. I was feeling really awkward as i mentioned before that i am not very good with strangers. So thank god our driver came in time and we proceed on to the next stop, Bungalow Living Cafe.

Pillows (100K IDR) and stuffs for sale!
More bigger pillows(250K IDR) for sale
More items and pillows again! - I sucks at writing captions
Amazingly delicious Lemon Meringue and Banana Chocolate Tart.
In this cafe, they sell stuffs like you can see above. You can also choose to sit inside or outside. I would just recommend to sit near the door as it is a little bit stuffy inside. If you did not find anything you like in the cafe, simply cross the road and walk into this alley, you will be able to find their gallery where they show most of their products. The designer/owner(?) was there when we went there. Other than their items, their desserts and food are really nice as well. We wanted to order another Banana thing but it was sadly out of stock by the time we went.

At the end, i had a lot more cafes that i wanted to visit but sadly, the driver did not know how to go and Lynette was really full. So i did not want to eat alone and i hate it when i eat and my companion do not eat thus, we just went to one more stop before we proceed on to do other stuffs. So while our driver is searching for the road to go to while driving, i spotted Sea Circus which i heard that their food was pretty good, so we stopped and went in.

Hours: Open today · 8:00 am – 10:30 pm

So despite all the rave about it, the food was actually pretty normal. We ordered homemade corn tortilla chips, churros and 2 cups of coconut water to share. The chips was nice in the beginning but it is quite oily so after a few, you will get tired of it. The churros are not that bad, just slightly harder than churros that i have eaten in Singapore Universal Studios. Do take note that most cafes usually have 10% service charge.

After eating, we went to a place which sells fixed price item in which we found out that they are actually selling items that have defects. Lynette's boyfriend recommended us to go in which we got so pissed off as there was literally nothing to buy there. Hence, we went back to Sanur to shop instead as the stuffs there are way cheaper and there is our favourite Hardy's there.

Tips for people who are travelling to Bali: Many people might say that Ubud Market and Sukawati Market is one of the better place to shop, I personally recommend the market at Baruna Beach or the streets near there(Jl Pantai Sindhu and Jl Danau Tamblingan). Over there, the starting price is way cheaper than those in Ubud, Kuta and Sukawati. I almost didn't even have to bargain at all!

So that's all for today. Sorry for the lack of photos and mass amount of words, i did not know why i did not take a lot of photos this time when i went to Bali. Will try to take as much photos as i can when i go overseas in the near future
